Large business use of and the overall commercial growth of the Internet was sparked by the advent of the World Wide Web and then the release of the Mosaic web browser in 1993. People could actually browse the internet and begin finding things. It was an awesome and unique experience.
Prior to this the military and government were the only active users. In the late 1990s, the reduction of the “digital divide”, advances in Internet connectivity, increases in uses and better education on the use of the Internet led to further increases by the general public. Between 1990 and 1997, the percentage of households in the United States owning computers increased from 15% to 35%.
Information and communications technology progressed from a luxury to a necessity. The Information was born, and now small business owners recognized the growth potential afforded from being on, being seen and selling on the internet.
In June 1997, Cyspace Productions also realized the potential for new markets. Instead of being just a provider for usage the need to take advantage of the new marketing strategy was obvious. The name was then changed to reflect the new opportunities afforded by these technology advances. Xtreme1Marketing was born, it was a new day and an Xtreme way of doing business.
